SeaTac Wins Well City Award for 8th Year

The City of SeaTac has won the Well City Award from the Association of Washington Cities Employee Benefit Trust for the eighth consecutive year.

The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) said, “84 cities and public entities demonstrated their commitment to employee health promotion and met the stringent standards set forth for the award.”

All of these cities are part of Employee Benefit Trust, which is a health insurance pool that provides coverage to over 15,000 city employees across the state. The award gives cities a 2 percent premium discount on their Regence BlueShield or Asuris Northwest Health medical coverage in 2013.

“Earning a discount on health insurance premiums is a great incentive provided by AWC,” said Todd Cutts, SeaTac city manager, “I want to thank the SeaTac Wellness Committee for their efforts in offering programs and events that engage and educate our employees in all aspects of wellness.”

Mike McCarty, AWC chief executive officer said the he association was pleased to offer this financial incentive for cities to promote health and well being among their staffs.

“We know from experience that many cities making this level of commitment also find their employees are more productive, have higher morale, and experience fewer injuries and absences,” said McCarty. “That’s a win-win for everyone.”
