REMINDER: ‘Go Green’ Community Event is 11am–4pm Saturday

REMINDER: The Family Friendly “Go Green” Community Event will take place from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at the SeaTac Community Center.

“Bring your family and friends to see how you can be more environmentally friendly and waste-wise in your home,” reads an announcement.

The first 200 people will receive a FREE reusable recycling bag.

Here’s what else is on tap:

  • FREE natural yard care classes with local garden guru Greg Butler – learn about natural garden design, soil & water, bugs, and maintenance; one FREE EcoSafe Kitchen Caddy container to those attending Greg’s presentations.
  • FREE bike drawing for the kids (one girl’s and one boy’s bike) compliments of Republic Services. Bring your kids to see a Republic Services CNG truck up close!
  • Limited rain barrel and compost bin sales for SeaTac residents ($25 cash only – please bring proof of residency). Rain barrel vendor will offer instruction on how to set up your rain barrel, or explain how to create your own rain barrel.
  • SudSafe car wash! While at the event, have your vehicle washed and see how the Public Works Department’s fish friendly SudSafe car wash kit keeps pollutants out of the storm drain and our waterways. Donations will go to support area youth sports.
  • Visit the Republic Services booth to get information on the best way to reduce your waste by increasing your recycling. Learn about food scrap recycling with your yard debris service, and new options on cart sizes and services.

Visitors can get free natural yard care and rain barrel classes, but class sizes are limited so contact Trudy Olson at (206) 973.4763 to register.

There will be a sale of rain barrels and compost bins and a Suds Safe car wash demonstration. The first 200 people get a free reusable recycling bag and there will be a free bike drawing.

The event is at the SeaTac Community Center, located at 13735 24th Avenue South.
