Final Paving Closure for South 154th Street Expected to Run Through Friday

A full road closure is in effect on South 154th Street, from 24th Avenue to 32nd Avenue S. from today (Monday, Aug. 13), and expected to last through Friday, Aug. 17.

Traffic through the road closure area will be restricted to emergency vehicles and local traffic that has no alternate route to their destination within the project limits.

Through traffic will be detoured to International Boulevard, S. 144th Street, and 24th Avenue S. The traveling public should expect delays related to construction activities and the City recommends that alternate routes be considered. Appropriate signage, notification and traffic control will be used to manage traffic through the detour.

The goal of the project is to improve traffic operations and increase the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Improvements include new sidewalks, turn lanes, bicycles lanes, and relocation of overhead utilities underground.

Questions and concerns during the closure can be directed to Project Engineer Eric Proctor at (206) 973.4735.
