A Blood Drive will be held Monday, Feb. 3 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in SeaTac.
“The blood center had a strong blood supply heading in to the Christmas and New Year holidays but as expected blood supplies have significantly decreased,” reads an announcement. “There were less available donors over the holidays but the demand for blood always remains constant. Every 2 minutes someone in Western Washington needs a blood transfusion. Additionally, on Fri Jan 24, Puget Sound Blood Center experienced a network outage and unable to process donors, the blood center lost hundreds of donor registrations.
“Our current blood supply is at its lowest in 8 years.”
Last week, a 59 year male was transfused with blood from Puget Sound Blood Center donors for a spinal cord tumor and a 41 year old male received blood following a motor-cycle accident. It took 39 donors to support just these 2 patients!
Please consider attending the drive below and help ensure an ample blood supply for whoever may need it next. Thank you!
