The Cactus Speaks: No Council Circus this Tuesday, performers leave town….

In yet another “stuff it” to SeaTac Citizens, Council Members (un-elected and double dipping Mayor Gregerson, “phone it in” Deputy Mayor Tony Anderson, and “ooh look its an airplane” Campbell) have decided to move the Council meeting to Thursday to accommodate their personal schedules and agendas. Council Member Ladenderg will also be absent. He implies he’s not smart enough to get out of jury duty that EVENING.  Ok, that’s plausible except the evening part. No quorum for a Council Meeting.

How nice of them not to mention the possibility at the last Council meeting nor inform the remaining members until just now. Don’t kid yourselves, they already knew. In their world, our lives must revolve around theirs and some of us Citizens seem to make the meetings more than some Council Members.

The official response to my query from City Manager Todd Cutts:

“The Mayor has a commitment in Olympia, the Deputy Mayor and CM Campbell will be at a National League of Cities Conference and doing legislative advocacy in Washington D.C. and CM Ladenburg has jury duty and it’s unclear what time he will be available.  The agenda offered some flexibility and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be in attendance on Thursday, with CM Ladenburg a possibility”

Lets Review. Un-elected Mayor states her duties as a legislator in Olympia won’t affect her position as Un-elected Mayor.  Council Member Tony Anderson simply can’t be bothered with even a phone call this time. Council Member Campbell fresh off being criticized for spending too much on travel flies away. Council Member Ladenberg taking his comedy act to a jury and the Citizens are left scratching their heads wondering what good are these Council Members and how the heck did we get here.

We got here by having all kinds of outside money in our Council races. We got here by not voting. We got here by believing all the pretty brochures and not looking at the candidate’s actions.

If you thought the imposed 6 percent utility tax was bad and no Code Enforcement just think how much damage these Council Members can do before being ousted along with a City Manager who won’t stand up to them, If you are not mad yet, you are not paying attention.

Earl is not making any of this up, unfortunately for the Citizens of SeaTac. So if Mr. Anderson is returning from the NLC conference early so he can be in attendance at the Thursday meeting, guess who’s paying the exorbitant “flight change fees” that go with such an “emergency”. Can’t see how this qualifies as an “emergency” since our Council Members knew a year ago when this conference (perk) would occur. Can’t see how this qualifies as an “emergency” since Ms. Gregorson knew she would not be able to perform her Mayoral duties while serving simultaneously in Olympia. Can’t see how this qualifies as an “emergency” since Ms. Campbell knew that she would be away long in advance. But then maybe Mr. Anderson will just Skype in to the Thursday meeting. Guess who’s paying for that if he does? You might say “Skyping is Free” …. but no it’s not because that means he’ll probably consider that as him being in attendance once again. So, let’s see ~ Tony Anderson has attended one regularly scheduled Council Meeting in 89 days! Wow, that’s at the rate of one meeting per quarter! Sorry if he believes that his Skyping in to meetings is beneficial for the citizens, ’cause it’s nothing more than an insult. Obviously, SeaTac is not his main priority.

Citizens, the Circus doesn’t have to come to SeaTac … just as Earl said, we have our own “performers” with their own agendas. Hopefully some of this will stick in your memory banks when the November elections roll around. We don’t need ANY union to buy another election for us, we don’t need ANY “big picture agendas” to get SeaTac’s business taken care of!

I have a personal issue with Mia being Mayor and have several questions for you to look into Earl. Yes, my last name is in relation to someone you know! 🙂

  2. Janice Taylor says:

My late husband used to say we get the government we deserve, and SeaTac voters, due to their complacency, lack of voting or voting “with their hearts” (Mia and Co.’s campaign slogan), got what they deserved. Well, we certainly are paying for it.

As for Mia’s double-dipping, EVERYONE I mention it to immediately asks, “Isn’t that illegal?” The last person to toss out that query is a lawyer in Washington DC. If holding two positions is considered criminal in the national snake-pit of politics, how do we rate?

  3. Dan Decker says:

Maybe recall. Recall all members of the council. Maybe just the 4 that
cannot, will not, shall not… then what?
