Frank Hansen Memorial Race will be on Angle Lake the weekend of Sept. 10-11

The Frank Hansen Memorial Race Regatta will be held on Angle Lake on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

This race, which is presented by the Seattle Outboard Association, will feature outboard hydroplanes and runabouts, with speeds expected up to 100 MPH. Boats will race Three Laps on the approximate 3/4-mile course

The race course will be in the south portion of Angle Lake, and only the north section
will be available for the general public.

Angle Lake Park will remain open to the general public
during the event – however, the boat launch will be closed.

The City of SeaTac recently approved a Special Use Park Permit for this event.

Speed of the hydroplane boats may reach a maximum of 100 MPH, according to the permit.
Homeowners within 300 feet of Angle Lake have been sent a Preliminary Decision Notice and have until Sept. 8 to respond with comments.

Frank Hansen was a retired airline pilot who served 16 years on the SeaTac City Council, including three terms as Mayor.

“Frank was SeaTac’s first mayor and is still considered by many to be our best,” according to the Angle Lake Shore Club.
