Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority selects Matthew Morris as new Fire Chief

The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority Governance Board unanimously approved the contract to hire Matthew Morris as its next Fire Chief at Wednesday night’s meeting (Aug. 16).

Board member Bill Boyce, who accompanied current Fire Chief Jim Schneider on a site visit to Chief Morris’s department in Henderson, Nevada, said that he was “very pleased and encouraged by everything he’s learned about Chief Morris and sees the department continuing to move forward.”

Chief Morris’s first official day will be September 11, 2017.

Since 1892 the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority has existed to maintain and enhance the quality of life within its boundaries by protecting life, property, and the environment. We are an internationally accredited full-service, all risk fire and rescue department that provides services to the citizens of Covington, Kent, SeaTac, and portions of unincorporated King County. The department covers approximately 60 square miles and protects a population of over 177,000.
