Port of Seattle holding community Tree Planting event this Saturday, Dec. 2

The Port of Seattle invites members of the local community to join Port employees as they re-plant Douglas fir saplings as part of the Flight Corridor Safety Program this Saturday, Dec. 2.

The event will run for 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. south of S. 200th Street on 18th Avenue S. (access road to the SCORE jail).

“Saplings will be relocated from Port property where they could eventually become tall enough to become aircraft obstructions,” the Port said in a statement. “By transplanting them to a new location a safe distance away, they will contribute to the Port’s efforts to restore well-functioning native forests around Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s perimeter.”
