New Middle School at Glacier site receives $3 million in state funds

Last week, the Washington State legislature passed the 2018 supplemental capital budget, which included $2.95 million in funding for Highline’s new middle school project in SeaTac.

This appropriation will fund the construction of an additional science classroom and two general education classrooms at the middle school being constructed on the Glacier site.

Senator Karen Kaiser and Representative Mia Gregerson – both of the 33rd district – sponsored this request on behalf of the district and championed it through the capital budget process.

“Our sincere thanks to Sen. Kaiser, Rep. Gregerson and Sen. David Frockt, vice-chair of the Senate Ways and Means committee, for their tireless work on this issue,” said Highline Chief of Staff and Finance Duggan Harman.

The new 950-student middle school is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in September of 2019.
