Rape attempted near top of Des Moines Beach Park Trail Thursday morning

The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a rape was attempted near the start of the Des Moines Beach Park Trail on Thursday morning, Aug. 30.

Police say the assault took place near the 2100 block of S. 200th Street in SeaTac (map below) at around 10:30 a.m., when a man came up from behind and attempted to assault a woman who was walking on the trail.

The suspect is a male, race unknown, and was wearing a dark hoodie.

Despite an extensive search using a K-9, he has not yet been found.

Q13 says that the suspect held what the woman thought was a gun to her back and then pulled her toward the bushes.

Authorities said the woman faked an injury, then escaped.

Detectives remain on-scene, and are canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses.
