The The City of SeaTac Public Works Department is warning of a major Traffic Detour on Military Road South, from Wednesday, Sept. 19 through Thursday, Sept. 20:

  • Two Day Closure all southbound lanes of Military Rd S. at S. 216th St. to S. 200th St.
  • Exit 151 from Interstate 5 will be impacted
  • Construction Wed. Sept. 19 to Thu. Sept. 20 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The Public Works Department is improving Military Road South between South 216th and South 200th Street. Work crews will begin construction at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19 and end by 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 20.

During the construction activity, drivers are asked to use alternate routes. All southbound lanes of Military Rd. S at S. 216th St. to S. 200th St. will be shut down during the construction periods each day. The project construction periods are from 7AM to 7PM each day. Drivers will be detoured around the work to International Boulevard South. Northbound lanes will be open during the construction phase but drivers should expect significant delays and seek alternate routes when possible. The detours will only be in place during the 7AM to 7PM construction hours.

Drivers taking Exit 151 from Interstate 5 will be impacted. When drivers take the 200th St. off-ramp from southbound I-5, they will not be able to turn left onto Military Rd S. From the northbound off-ramp, drivers will be forced to turn north from the exit and will not be able to drive south on Military Rd S.

The construction work will include rubblization of the existing concrete road in place and overlaying with hot mix asphalt. In addition, crews will implement storm water improvements, add pedestrian facilities and bicycle lanes, and signal upgrades.
