WEATHER UPDATE: Tuesday update on SeaTac closures, garbage, roads & more

SeaTac City Hall, Community Center and Municipal Court are closed today – Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 – due to inclement weather.

Due to weather and road conditions, all Highline schools and district administrative offices are closed on Tuesday, Feb. 12. All scheduled activities, athletic events and meetings are canceled. No transportation will be provided to schools outside of our district.

While City arterials roads are clear, many residential streets remain difficult to navigate. Residents should slow down while driving and don’t make any unnecessary trips.

On Tuesday, Public Works and Parks maintenance staff employees continue to work 12-hour, round- the-clock shifts to plow and apply sand, salt and brine to primary arterial roadways within the City. With many residential streets still covered in snow, ice and slush, Recology Cleanscapes has cancelled collections for Tuesday, February 12. Current conditions make it dangerous for collection vehicles to travel residential neighborhoods.

To assist SeaTac residents who have experienced an interruption in service, Recology Cleanscapes has staged an emergency collection zone that is available Tuesday, February 12, from 7 AM- 3 PM at the SeaTac Community Center Lower Parking Lot, located at 13735 24th Ave South. A second emergency collection zone is setup in the parking lot of Valley Ridge Park located at 4644 S 188th Street. These pickup spots are for garbage only. Please bring material bagged or bundled. No large bulky items will be accepted.

Recology Cleanscapes has activated its inclement weather plan and its operations team is closely monitoring weather conditions. The City of SeaTac and Recology Cleanscapes is working on a plan to service all customers impacted by missed collection days. Recology Cleanscapes is prioritizing collections to essential commercial customers such as the airport, hospitals and grocery stores.
