Prepare Ahead for Busy Presidents Day Travel at Sea-Tac Airport

Here’s an update on travel at Sea-Tac Airport courtesy the Port of Seattle:

On the heels of the recent weather storms, the Port of Seattle is encouraging travelers to plan ahead and bring your patience as a busy weekend is on tap for Presidents Day at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Thursday and Friday will be the busiest days with nearly 300,000 passengers going through the airport.

A typical travel day during the slower winter season can see as few as 100,000 travelers per day, while an average day for the year brings 136,000 passengers to the airport. On Thursday, the numbers swell to 145,000 with Friday increasing to 152,000 passengers going through Sea-Tac.

Also, due to the recent snow, the eighth floor of the airport parking garage is currently closed and parking is limited on other floors. Exceptionally high occupancy throughout the holiday is expected and alternatives to driving are strongly encouraged.

To improve the travel experience for seasoned pros and newbies alike, the Port of Seattle is encouraging fliers with tools, including:

  • Use the apps! Check out the new Sea-Tac Airport App to watch security checkpoint wait times, search for your flight, find yourself on the terminal map, and search for restaurants, lounges, the meditation room or your favorite retail story. The app is currently available or iPhones with the Android version launching soon. Also, use multiple other apps to help you navigate and enjoy the airport.
  • Sign up for text alerts. Get text updates about what’s happening at the airport by texting “Update” to 206-347-8045.
