Highline Bears baseball 2019 season opener will be Saturday, June 1!

The Highline Bears summer collegiate baseball team plans for a summer full of entertainment and fun, with the 2019 season opening game set for Saturday, June 1 at Mel Olson Stadium in White Center.

The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.

The Bears are heading into their fifth season, and serves as home to college players from all over the country for the months of June and July. This year’s team is comprised of players from 18 different colleges including Washington State University, the University of Washington, and Pacific Lutheran University.

Baseball may be the main attraction at Mel Olson Stadium in White Center, but what’s happening off the field is non-stop entertainment and fun. From the dancing Bears mascot, t-shirt give-a-ways, between inning games and competitions, the Highline Bears make sure even the most casual of baseball fans are in for a memorable night.

“This year we’re taking it up a notch, more fun, more crazy, and more creativity,” said General Manager Justin Moser. “We’re running a circus with great baseball happening on center stage. We learned very quickly that we’re not in the baseball business, we’re in the entertainment business.”

This year the Bears will host 24 home games, with a ton of special events including:

  • Christmas in July
  • Price is Right Night
  • Bring Back Our Sonics Night
  • Bacon Night

The Bears are heading into their fifth season in the Pacific International League, where they have broken all attendance records four years in a row. The team has continued to grow each year, and is hoping to be an integral part of the community each summer.
