SPONSORED: From Advertiser Stan Tombs for SeaTac City Council, Position #5:
“Born here in SeaTac, I was appointed in January by the City Council to serve out the term of late City Councilwoman Ahmed.
Previously I served our City as Vice Chairman of our Planning Commission since 2017.
Our job as Councilmembers is to produce effective public policy with which our City Manager and his staff can implement into action plans for our City government. In this dynamic environment it has been an on-going challenge and our city has overcome the $2.5 million debt we inherited from the pre 2016 Council.
This year we are $20 million dollars ahead of forecasted revenues, and we’ve brought in a $1 billion of private business investment, which means more and better paying jobs and more revenue to support the City without raising property taxes.
We’ve doubled the number of police officers on patrol during each shift for safer homes, streets, businesses and schools, and we’re adding and upgrading our parks & playgrounds across the City.
And this is just the start.
We’ll have more diverse housing opportunities, more retail space, better streets & sidewalks, more funding for our Human Services efforts and more effective community outreach and participation.
And this isn’t just fantasy & hollow campaign promises. These are actions underway right now!
Please support these efforts with your vote to retain your 3 current City Councilmember candidates.
Thank you,
– Stan Tombs, City Council Position #5.”
I want to put in a good work for Stanley Tombs, running for Position 5 on the SeaTac City Council.
Within moments of meeting Stanley I realized I was talking with a very smart man who evaluates the givens in a situation, determines the upsides and downsides and makes his decisions based on legality and facts, always with his hometowns success in mind.
Please consider voting for Stanley Tombs. We don’t want to lose his valuable input.
SeaTac will have “more retail space”, but 50 fewer small businesses due to the actions of this Council. It’s time for some new voices that represent all residents and the small business community. Please consider supporting Takele Gobena for City Council.
The previous tenants are welcome to rent spaces from the new building. And your facts are not facts. There WAS NOT 50 businesses removed. Stop spreading lies!
Ms. Ricketts,
Obviously, you don’t know or don’t want to talk about the 12/31/2009 purchase of the property. The ordinance clearly stated the property was purchased for redevelopment associated with the 2006 Transit-Oriented Design the City committed too! The city notified the tenants and sub-tenants in March 2018 that the building would close in August 2019. When the development is finished, it is required to have commercial space and will offer 683 units of “workforce” and market-rate housing, which will provide residence for 2,400 people.
The building will be privately owned and pay taxes to the city. The new residents will generate $140 million in new disposable income to support the area’s local businesses.
Your comment is a weak attempt to attack the building of much-needed housing. This has been explained many times, please get the facts!
