The Highline Heritage Museum is seeking help for its COVID-19 Protection & Caring Fund, and is offering many new programs:

COVID-19 PROTECTION & CARING FUND

We identified two areas to address so we can meet the museums standards.

We need to contract professional cleaning services to ensure sanitation and to cover the supplies/materials to protect our visitors, volunteers and community partners.

We need your support for us to cover these expenses.

How can you support our Covid-19 Protection & Caring Fund?

    • You can donate directly in our website or check payable to Highline Heritage Museum 819 SW 152nd St. Burien, WA 98166: https://highlinehistory.org/make-a-donation/
    • Give the gift of a membership to a loved one, neighbor, or friend so they can join the family. (Yes, all of us involved are part of this wonderful museum family)
    • Buy this wonderful wall hung painted papier-mâché rhino head donated by Lloyd Herman, we are selling it for only $5,000 (that’s half price!). Lloyd is best known for being the founding Director of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington.

    • ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sergio Bustamante is a sculptor best known for his depictions of animals and inventive humanoid creatures. Working in papier mache, wood, bronze, and ceramic, Bustamante’s sculptures are often painted or glazed, allowing him to bring even greater heights of imagination and surrealism to his creatures.

The Highline Heritage Museum and City of Burien are teaming up to document the stories of our community’s experience during COVID-19. The Burien Pandemic Story Project aims to document the stories, photos, and other artifacts of community member’s experiences during the pandemic. While we honor the sacrifices and hard work of our essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the work of everyday people like you that are also helping “flatten the curve.”

MUSEUM REOPENING

We will get the approval from the office of the Governor’s to open the museum once we reach phase three. Washington State has a strong and diverse museum sector which came together to endorse and present a museum reopening plan. We are one of those museums following the recommendations proposed in the plan. Our museum director is a board member for the Washington Museum Association and Advisory Committee Member for 4Culture allowing us to keep track of what is happening in the museum sector at the King County and State level.
