On Thursday morning, Sept. 10, 2020, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed a second-degree murder charge and a first-degree unlawful firearm possession charge against Travon Deautry Johnson, who is accused of killing a man Aug. 30 in SeaTac.

Johnson, 30 is accused of killing Matthew Frank Arnett, 41 in the 15400 block of 30th Ave S. (map below).

Prosecutors say that Johnson shot and killed Arnett – a stranger to him – during a verbal argument involving an ex-girlfriend, before fleeing the scene. He tried to flee agin when he was arrested by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Arnett was found by police in front of his SeaTac residence with a single gunshot wound to his torso. He later died en route to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Johnson was previously convicted in 2010 of robbery, burglary and assault arising from a 2009 incident in which he participated in an armed home invasion burglary during which a husband and wife were pistol whipped while their young children slept in a nearby room.

Bail was requested at $2 million due to him being a flight risk.
