The SeaTac City Council is scheduled to consider the removal of City Manager Carl Cole during its hybrid meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, starting at 6 p.m.

Cole, who has served as City Manager since January 2019, previously held the position of SeaTac Police Chief for many years.

Supporters of Cole point to his leadership during the pandemic and his ability to meet council budget goals. They also highlight his experience and community involvement, citing his volunteer work with local organizations.

However, details surrounding the City Council’s decision to consider Cole’s removal remain somewhat unclear. Council records show an executive session was held March 26, 2024 to discuss the City Manager’s performance, but no action was taken at that time.

Cole subsequently submitted a letter of resignation on March 27, 2024.

“Currently there are at least five other cities looking to hire a City Manager and every one of them is paying more than what SeaTac is paying Carl so we are getting an excellent value for an excellent City Manager; it would cost our city MORE to hire someone new with less experience.” Councilmember Peter Kwon said in an email.
