UPDATE JUNE 27, 2025 2:55 p.m.: Northbound I-5 near Southcenter is set to reopen after Washington State Patrol (WSP) determined that a shooting that injured one person Friday afternoon, June 27, 2025 originated from inside the victim’s vehicle.
WSP said the victim was struck in the leg by a gunshot while traveling on the freeway.
Previously, Troopers shut down the northbound lanes of I-5.
Detectives are investigating how the shooting occurred, but officials said there is no threat to the public and no other suspects or vehicles are involved.
“The roadway will be reopened shortly,” WSP said in a statement. “There is no danger to the public.”
Further details about the victim’s condition have not been released.
