As technology becomes more essential to daily life, many older adults face a growing challenge: navigating devices, apps, and online risks that seem seem to evolve every week.

One young entrepreneur is stepping in to bridge that gap for seniors across the Puget Sound region.

Your Senior Tech, founded by Ashlyn Sidhu (pictured, right), provides patient, hands-on tech support and digital safety education to older adults in retirement communities, senior centers, churches, and local neighborhoods. The program blends practical tech help with a strong emphasis on scam prevention, one of the fastest rising threats facing seniors today.

“We created Your Senior Tech because seniors deserve support that’s patient, respectful, and tailored to them,” Sidhu said. “Technology should make life easier, not more stressful. Our goal is to help them feel confident and safe using the devices they rely on every day.”

A rising need for scam awareness

Scams targeting seniors have surged nationally, from phishing texts and fake shipping notices to financial fraud and even AI voice impersonation. Sidhu says scam prevention sessions have quickly become one of their most requested services.

“We teach seniors what the red flags look like,” she explained. “Fake links, suspicious emails, unexpected pop ups, strange phone calls. Once seniors know what to look for, you can see the relief on their faces.”

Your Senior Tech offers popular community presentations including Spot the Scam, All About AI, Staying Safe Online, and The Password Upgrade, along with step by step handouts seniors can take home.

Powered by an intergenerational approach

A hallmark of Your Senior Tech’s model is its team of trained high school and college students who assist seniors much like they would help their own grandparents. This intergenerational design creates a comfortable, judgment free learning environment that seniors appreciate.

“It changes everything when the help comes from someone patient and friendly,” Sidhu said. “Many seniors just want someone who won’t rush them or make them feel embarrassed for asking questions.”

Support for everyday tech frustrations

Outside of scam prevention, seniors often request help with:

  • device setup
  • email syncing
  • storage and photo organization
  • apps and updates
  • password resets
  • general troubleshooting

Sessions focus on teaching seniors how to solve problems themselves, helping them feel more confident long after the appointment ends.

Serving the Puget Sound community

Your Senior Tech now supports retirement homes and community organizations throughout the region and is in the process of transitioning into a nonprofit to increase access and expand its mission driven work.

“This work is about connection,” Sidhu said. “Technology is part of everyday life now, and seniors shouldn’t feel left behind. When you give someone the confidence to stay connected, that impact goes a long way.”
