With 16 games left in the 68-game regular season, the Seattle Thunderbirds are in a tight race to secure a Western Conference playoff berth, according to current league standings.
The Thunderbirds have played 52 games and sit 10th in the Western Conference with 51 points, trailing the eighth place Tri-City Americans and ninth place Victoria Royals, who each have 54 points.
The top eight teams in the Western Conference qualify for the playoffs, so the 10th-seeded T-Birds need to gain ground over the final stretch of the season to move into a postseason position.
The Everett Silvertips currently lead the conference with 93 points in 55 games, followed by Penticton with 78 points and Prince George with 66 points. Mid table teams such as Kelowna, Kamloops, Spokane and Portland are also ahead of Seattle in the standings, increasing the urgency of each remaining game.
With just over a quarter of the season left to play, every point earned in the standings will be critical as the Thunderbirds attempt to close the gap on the final playoff spots and climb into the top eight before the regular season concludes.
The Tri-City Americans currently hold the eighth playoff spot with one more game played, while the Thunderbirds earn two points for each win as they try to make up ground in the standings.

The Thunderbirds’ 2025-26 Western Hockey League regular season continues through Mar. 22, 2026, with home games at accesso ShoWare Center in Kent:
