Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened early Sunday, Mar. 15 on southbound I-5 just south of the S. 200th Street off-ramp in SeaTac.
Troopers said WSP Communications received multiple 911 calls at about 3:22 a.m. early Sunday reporting a collision.
As we previously reported, the driver of a Toyota Prius – Nadezhda S. Gorbachenko, 72 – was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators determined that three vehicles were involved in two collision events.
According to WSP, the first collision left the victim vehicle disabled in the roadway, which then led to a secondary, fatal collision involving a Subaru.
Detectives believe the vehicle that caused the first collision stopped briefly after the crash and then left the scene. WSP said debris recovered at the scene showed Mercedes markings, and investigators believe the suspect vehicle may be a 2009 to 2017 two door E class coupe or a similar style Mercedes. Authorities said the suspect vehicle is expected to have damage to the front passenger side corner and bumper. The release included a photo of a similar vehicle and noted it was not the actual car involved.
WSP detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about it to contact Detective Aidan Lawlor by email at Aidan.Lawlor@wsp.wa.gov or by calling (360) 890-1558.
No suspect information beyond the vehicle description was released.
