SeaTac residents and others in south King County will have a chance to safely dispose of a wide range of hard-to-recycle household items during the city’s free spring recycling event on Sunday, Mar. 29.

The biannual event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SeaTac BMX Track on S. 136th Street (map below), and is designed to let people drop off materials without leaving their vehicles. The entrance is off of Des Moines Memorial Dr. at South 138th Street – head towards the BMX track and you will see it.

The city said the event will accept sorted batteries, oil and antifreeze in quantities of 25 gallons or less, document shredding with a three box limit, propane tanks, up to 10 tires, electronics including vacuums, flattened cardboard, toilets, sinks and appliances with fluids removed, scrap metal, plastic film, CFL bulbs and waste vegetable cooking oil.

The City of SeaTac described the event as a way to get rid of hard to recycle items “free and easy” and said residents can do so “without even getting out of your car.”

The event is part of the city’s spring recycling efforts and offers a disposal option for materials that are often not accepted in regular curbside collection programs.
