A major weekend windstorm kept local emergency and utility workers – along with King County Sheriff’s Office deputies – busy after trees fell onto a home and car across Burien, officials said.

Deputies responded to a call late Saturday night at SW 116th Street and Ambaum Boulevard SW, where a tree had fallen directly onto a vehicle (photo below). The King County Sheriff’s Office said the driver was not injured. Deputies worked alongside fire crews to clear the roadway and reopen traffic.

Elsewhere, two large trees were reported down in the 1200 block of SW 152nd Street near Lake Burien, with one landing and punching into to the rooftop of a home.
Photos taken by Scott Schaefer at the scene on Sunday showed large limbs across two adjoining yards as tree experts worked with chainsaws and chippers. One downed tree was considered a “windthrow,” where its roots pulled up part of the front yard – check out the photos below:

The Sheriff’s Office urged drivers to use extra caution, especially during dark and stormy nights when falling branches and slick roads create added hazards.
