The SeaTac Farmers Market is seeking 250 volunteers for its 2026 season, with weekly markets planned from June 3 through Oct. 28, according to African Community Housing and Development (ACHD).
Volunteers will help operate the market each Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m., assisting with setup, teardown and distribution of free produce to community members. Shifts typically last two to three hours, with setup from 1 to 3 p.m. and teardown from 5 to 8 p.m.
The market, entering its third season, is managed by ACHD, a Black women-led nonprofit based in SeaTac. Organizers say the program focuses on supporting BIPOC farmers, vendors and artisans while expanding access to fresh food in the community.
In addition to selling locally grown goods, the market operates a produce buyback program in which unsold items are purchased from farmers and distributed free to residents. Distribution begins at 6 p.m. each market day, and volunteers are needed to help hand out food.
Organizers say the market distributes more than 50 free produce bags each week and offers programs including SNAP EBT matching, youth bucks for children and community health and wellness activities.
Volunteer opportunities are open to a wide range of participants, including youth, seniors, corporate groups and international volunteers. A background check is required, and volunteers must be available for recurring weekly shifts.
