A coalition of labor unions, civil rights organizations, and community groups will gather for a rally and march on Saturday, April 5, 2025 in protest of recent federal actions targeting immigrant rights, public education, and federal workers.
This “March to Melt Ice” event will start at Noon at Angle Lake Park.
Organized by OWLS (Organized Workers for Labor Solidarity) and backed by more than a dozen labor and advocacy groups, the rally will begin at Angle Lake Park, located at 19408 International Blvd, and will be followed by a march to the Federal Detention Center at 2425 S. 200th Street, near the Angle Lake light rail station.
Organizers say the action is in response to federal policies enacted by President Donald Trump’s administration.
“The protest is aimed at the Trump administration’s escalating attacks on working-class people, including his executive order abolishing the Department of Education, imprisonment of immigrants in Federal Detention Centers, gutting of civil rights for immigrant and trans students, and the mass firing of federal workers and its impact on public services,” organizers said in a statement.
