A warning from SeaTac Police / King County Sheriff’s Office:

Did you know burglars often take advantage of hot weather?

On Aug. 16, 2020 at approximately 9:40 p.m., our 9-1-1 communications center received a phone call from a resident of SeaTac, a contract city partner of the King County Sheriff’s Office, reporting someone trying to enter his home through a bathroom window. The resident stated he heard a ‘thud’ coming from the bathroom, and then saw a hand pushing back the blinds on the bathroom window.

The resident retrieved his cell phone from the living room, went back to his bedroom and called 9-1-1. He then saw a dark figure pass his bedroom at which point he yelled at the suspect, who then fled back out the bathroom window.

King County Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed entry through the bathroom window, which the resident had left open and unlocked due to the warm weather.

Unfortunately the resident was unable to provide any suspect description due to the lack of lighting.

This is a good reminder that although we are experiencing hot temperatures, it’s never a good idea to leave a window open overnight. During the summer months, burglars look for open windows to gain entry.
