The SeaTac Police Department will host its next “Coffee with a Cop” event on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024 at the Normandy Park Starbucks, located at 17847 1st Ave S. (map below).
The event will run from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and offers community members a chance to engage with police officers in a relaxed, informal setting.
The “Coffee with a Cop” initiative began in Southern California in 2011 and has since grown into a worldwide program, reaching over 10,000 events in all 50 U.S. states, as well as in Canada, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Latin America. The purpose of the initiative is to break down barriers between police officers and the public, offering a space for conversations outside of high-stress or crisis situations.
“People often meet police officers on their worst day—after a car accident or during a crime,” said Detective Will Bisesto, the SeaTac Police Department’s Community Engagement Officer. “This event gives folks an opportunity to meet with officers in a friendly environment, ask questions, and engage on a human level.”
The event is part of the SeaTac Police Department’s broader community outreach efforts, aimed at building stronger relationships between officers and residents. Attendees can ask questions, share concerns, and get to know the officers who serve their community.
