The City of SeaTac has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), recognizing the city’s budget for excellence as a policy document, financial plan, operational guide, and communication tool.

The award marks a significant milestone and reflects SeaTac’s ongoing commitment to high-quality, transparent financial practices.

“This award represents a significant achievement by the City,” the city said in a statement. “It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”

To qualify, the city had to meet rigorous, nationally recognized guidelines and achieve “proficient” ratings in all four assessment categories and 14 mandatory criteria. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:

  • A Policy Document
  • A Financial Plan
  • An Operations Guide
  • A Communications Device

SeaTac is among more than 1,700 participants in GFOA’s Budget Awards Program, which showcases exemplary municipal financial planning across North America.
