Students at SeaTac’s Tyee High School started the school year this week in a brand-new building made possible by a voter-approved 2022 bond.
The school welcomed students and families with a Titan Day celebration and a small ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 2. The following day marked the first day of classes inside the state-of-the-art facility.
“Beyond the shock and awe in the eyes of students and families, this amazing building reflects a message from our Highline community that says, ‘You matter, you belong. We are glad that you are here. We are so excited about your future,’” Principal Victoria Terry said.
She added:
“It also says, ‘We value public education, so we decided to invest in this modern state-of-the-art school that supports and promotes teaching and learning just for you.’”
Highline Public Schools noted that students across all four of its service areas now have access to comprehensive high schools in modern learning facilities.
A community grand opening celebration for the new Tyee High School is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m.
