South 188th Street in SeaTac will be closed overnight this week between 16th Ave South and 28th Ave South in both directions while crews commission new tunnel lighting, according to the City of SeaTac.

The closures are part of the South 188th Street Tunnel Improvement Project and will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following dates, the city said:

  • Wednesday morning (Jan. 14)
  • Wednesday night (Jan. 14) into Thursday morning (Jan. 15)
  • Thursday night (Jan. 15) into Friday morning (Jan. 16)
  • Friday night (Jan. 16) into Saturday morning (Jan. 17)

The work is being completed by contractor J.W. Fowler as part of lighting upgrades inside the tunnel.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during closure hours and to plan for additional travel time, the city said.
