In Tuesday night’s (Oct. 27) meeting, the SeaTac City Council granted a non-exclusive franchise agreement to EZEE Fiber for telecommunications services.

The decision comes after the ordinance was previously voted down by city council on Aug. 11, 2026. Council subsequently approved reconsideration of the ordinance at the Oct. 13, 2026 regular council meeting.

The approved franchise agreement establishes the terms that EZEE Fiber must comply with to install, operate, and maintain underground fiber-optic infrastructures within the city’s public right-of-way.

The infrastructure will support the delivery of high-speed internet services to residential, commercial, and governmental customers within the city.

Councilmember Peter Kwon expressed his excitement about the franchise agreement, stating:

“I’ve been trying to bring fiber optic [internet] into SeaTac for a long time, even before I was on the council, and we are kind of getting started there, but there are some neighborhoods in our city that still don’t have access to real fiber optic. They have access to other forms of internet, but not fiber optic. I saw [EZEE Fiber] as an opportunity […] to bring fiber to all the residences in our entire city and all the businesses, and I believe that will be accomplished through EZEE Fiber.”

The ordinance passed 7-0.
