Volunteers needed for tree planting event on Saturday, April 5 at North SeaTac Park

April 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Volunteers are invited to dig in and lend a hand at North SeaTac Park this coming Saturday, April 5, 2025, for the final planting event of the spring season — an opportunity to help grow a healthier forest, support pollinators, and beautify one of the city’s largest green spaces.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to Noon, is open to all ages and requires no prior experience.

Volunteers will meet in the planting zone south of the northwest parking lot off Des Moines Memorial Drive, where event organizers will be stationed with sign-in sheets and supplies.

Participants may help plant native trees, berry bushes, and ferns, or assist with mulching and removing invasive weeds such as ivy and blackberry, depending on weather and site conditions.

Tools, gloves, and training will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long sleeves, pants, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle. The event will take place rain or shine — volunteers should check the forecast and bring a rain jacket if needed.

Parking is available in the northwest corner of the park or nearby at Sunset Park (13800 16th Ave South), with signage to help direct attendees.

Those needing help finding the site can text or call Cat at (206) 719-0949. Additional questions can be directed to Chun or Lauren Moseman at the contact emails listed below.

This marks the last community planting event until fall, organizers said.
