REMINDER: ‘Vespa Festa’ returns to Casa Italiana Italian Cultural Center this Saturday, June 22, 2024!
Calling all Vespas and Vespa fans! Casa Italiana Italian Cultural center in Burien is where the fun will be this Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. at the annual Vespa Festa.
You can enjoy a host of activities including eating Italian entrees prepared by Nando’s La Cucina Italiana and freshly baked hot-from-the oven Pizza, courtesy of the Casa’s very own classic pizza oven. This is not just any oven, but one with a storied history being previously the center of Napoli Pizza in Southpark. When they closed, the oven was donated to the Casa and has now been re-enshrined to delight pizza fans from all around the south end. You can also enjoy a delicious variety of baked goods, while sipping festive wines and beers in the beer and wine garden.
Other Italian speciatlies include the hot and spicy ‘nduja a Calabrian classic. Giuseppo Pezzano of Nduja Me will provide the goods for those who like it spicy!
You can tap your toes to Italian music, shopping the Rosso Gardens plant stand, as well as the Casa’s Italian Market. And of course at the center of the festivities you will see a plethora of Vespas from vintage to modern, plus purchase raffle tickets to win a vespa of your very own! Raffle tickets are available NOW at just $10.00 each and you need not be present to win. The winner will be drawn at the Festa. It’s all in celebration of the iconic Italian Scooters, with proceeds to support the installation of an elevator, allowing full accessibility to the soon to be open Banquet Hall on the upper floor of the Casa Italiana Italian Cultural Center.
While you are there, be sure to check out the Casa Caffe where you can find authentic and delicious coffee, pastries, panini and gelato on a daily basis -not just for the festival. The Casa Italiana is a remarkable addition to our region’s cultural scene. Inside you will currently find the installation “Carissimo Pinocchio” a re-imagining of the world’s most beloved puppet. It is a traveling exhibit originating from Milan. The Center also plays host toThe Honorary Consulate of Italy of the State of Washington- Idaho and Montana, with an honorary consul who can preform certain official duties on-site.
