EDITOR’S NOTE: South King Media Founder/Publisher Scott Schaefer serves on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce.
The Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce announced on Friday, Aug. 30 that it is postponing its upcoming SEA Luncheon – originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 – due to a recent cyberattack.
The event has been delayed until further notice as the Chamber works with the Port of Seattle to determine a new date.
The Chamber has assured sponsors that their contributions will be fully honored when the event is rescheduled.
Chamber officials expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support and understanding from their partners during this unexpected situation.
“We deeply appreciate your support and partnership, and we are grateful for your understanding and flexibility during this unexpected situation,” incoming CEO/President Samantha (Sammie) Le said. “Your sponsorship is critical to the success of the event, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration when the event is rescheduled.”
As we previously reported, on Saturday, Aug. 24, the Port was made aware of a cyberattack on its computer systems that is still continuing.
“Our teams isolated critical systems and are working with third-party and federal partners to safely restore and test our systems,” the Port said on its redirected website. “The investigation is ongoing, and the Port will provide appropriate updates as they become available.”
Further details regarding a new date for the luncheon will be communicated as soon as they are confirmed.
