Soroptimist International Seattle South, a local chapter dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls, will host its annual ‘Christmas in November’ Luncheon and Auction on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at “The Cove” in Normandy Park.
Enjoy a gourmet salad luncheon while bidding on fabulous basket and giftable holiday items. In addition to the large silent auction, there will be a wine raffle, no-host bar, live auction, and our famous Dessert Dash!
Soroptimist International Seattle South was established in 1958 as a 501(c)3 organization.
“Our Mission is to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. One way we achieve this is to raise funds throughout the year to assist several local organizations.”
Funds raised will support various local organizations, including Hospitality House, Eileen and Callie’s Place, and the Highline College Women’s Emergency Fund. These organizations provide critical services such as housing, counseling, and educational support to women facing homelessness, poverty, and other crises.
The following are a few of the organizations that they help:
- Hospitality House is a 9 bed women’s shelter in Burien that provides temporary housing and services such as counseling to help them find stable housing, improved health and hope to women experiencing homelessness.
- Eileen and Callie’s Place is an organization that supports young ladies who are aging out of the Foster Care system. This program ensures that these young women will have a safe place to live, the opportunity to become independent, and to develop the skills needed to maintain a positive and productive lifestyle.
- Highline College Women’s Emergency Fund – Students can apply for these funds when unexpected financial needs occur. These funds can make the difference as to whether someone can remain in school.
- Live Your Dream Award – This is a unique education award for women who provide the primary financial support their families. The Live Your Dream Award gives women the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment prospects. This past year we were able to give both a $3000 and a $1500 award.
- Vision House – is a non-profit organization helping families in crisis break the cycle of homelessness. They strive to provide opportunities for life change to overcome trauma, generational poverty, and situational homelessness.
