Puget Sound Fire, IAFF Local 1747, and the Puget Sound Firefighters Foundation have launched their annual “Toys for Joy” program to support families in need across several communities, and they’re seeking help.

Coverage areas include SeaTac, Kent, Covington, Maple Valley, Tukwila, and King County Fire Districts #37 and #43.

This initiative aims to collect new, unwrapped toys for children up to 12 years old, as well as non-perishable food and monetary donations.

These contributions will be distributed through local food banks and outreach programs within the Puget Sound Fire’s response area.

Community members can participate by collecting toys at their locations for pickup or delivery to any of Puget Sound Fire’s 17 fire stations until Dec. 20, 2024.

Monetary donations can be made through the Puget Sound Firefighters Foundation’s website or by texting TOYS4JOY to 366283.

Additionally, public toy sorting and wrapping events are scheduled at Station 75 in Kent on Dec. 4, 11, 16, and 18. Due to high demand, reservations are required for these events.

The program also features the Jerry Woods Holiday Engine, which will visit neighborhoods in Maple Valley, Covington, Kent, SeaTac, and Tukwila throughout December to collect donations.

The engine’s schedule is available at holidayengine.org.
