The Rotary Clubs of SeaTac and Burien-White Center partnered with the Burien and SeaTac Police Departments to host the fifth annual “Shop with a Cop” event on Dec. 5, 2024 at Fred Meyer.
The event served 74 children from the Burien, SeaTac, and White Center communities. Participants were referred by school counselors and police officers, with 29 children from Burien, 23 from SeaTac, and 22 from White Center.
Fred Meyer provided special discounts and donated gift-wrapping supplies and refreshments for police officers and Rotary volunteers. A special guest – dressed as Santa in a blue suit – honored the law enforcement theme, adding extra holiday spirit to the occasion.
In addition to shopping for holiday gifts, 31 families received grocery gift cards from Grocery Outlet to help with holiday meals.
“The Rotary Clubs of Burien – White Center and SeaTac are privileged to sponsor this annual event and are appreciative to folks in our community for helping us fund this,” organizers said. “Particularly we give a great shout out to Harborstone Credit Union for sponsoring 15 kids at $100 each. We are already planning for next year’s event.”
The Rotary Clubs expressed their gratitude to all who contributed and are already planning for next year’s event.
