A fatal shooting early Saturday morning, Jan. 25, 2025 in SeaTac resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man and injuries to two others.
The suspect was detained at the scene by witnesses and later arrested by SeaTac Police/King County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
The incident occurred during a gathering at a residence on the 3700 block of S. 170th Street (map below). Officers responded to a 911 call around 5:44 a.m. reporting a shooting.
Upon arrival, police found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest, along with a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg.
The 33-year-old suspect suffered from non-firearm injuries after being subdued by those at the scene.
Witnesses stated that an argument between the suspect and the victim escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect allegedly drew a firearm and shot him. The woman was shot in the leg during the confrontation.
Deputies recovered the firearm allegedly used in the shooting, which was handed over by an individual exiting the home.
The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center before being booked into the King County Jail on charges of homicide and first-degree assault.
King County Sheriff’s deputies presented a first appearance document in court on Monday afternoon, outlining probable cause for charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
The court, after hearing from prosecutors and defense, set the suspect’s bail at $2 million.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office noted that the first appearance document is not a formal charging decision. Prosecutors anticipate receiving a case referral later this week to determine charges.
Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
