The highly anticipated new Tyee High School in SeaTac is on schedule and within budget, with construction crews working to complete the modernized campus in time for its September 2025 opening, Highline Public Schools announced this month.

The new facility will feature energy-efficient building systems, state-of-the-art learning spaces, and a design focused on student engagement.

Among the latest construction updates, crews have installed cabinets in science and music classrooms, while the library now incorporates the original Tyee wood glulam beams into its roof deck, preserving a piece of the school’s history.

A highlight of the new campus is the student commons area, which includes a learning stair offering views of Mount Rainier. The design also features a large courtyard connecting the library, commons, and classroom wing, creating a central gathering space for students.

Additionally, the school will have a flexible performance space, with seating now installed, providing students with a versatile venue for arts and events.

The new Tyee High School replaces the aging campus with a 21st-century learning environment designed to better serve SeaTac students and the surrounding community.
