The 2025 election season kicked off on Friday, May 9, with seven candidates filing to run for three open positions on the SeaTac City Council.
Of note, former councilmember Takele Gobena is running to return to the council, after resigning from Position 5 in 2023.
Incumbent Mayor Mohamed Egal is running for reelection for Position 4.
The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with the top two vote-getters moving on to the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

City of SeaTac, Council Position No. 2:
- Caitlin Konya: Psychiatric social worker and policy advocate, emphasizing economic growth, labor standards, and housing diversity.
- Takele Gobena: Former SeaTac City Councilmember elected in 2019, seeking to return to the council after resigning in 2023.
City of SeaTac, Council Position No. 4:
- Isabelle Kerner: Business owner and certified ethical hacker, bringing experience from a previous Seattle City Council campaign.
- Mohamed Egal*: Appointed as SeaTac Mayor in 2024, is a Somali immigrant with a background in social services and community involvement.
City of SeaTac, Council Position No. 6:
- Marianne West: Navy Gulf War veteran with experience in culinary, corrections, and management
- Michael Sanford: As of now, there is limited publicly available information regarding his professional background or campaign platform.
- Bedria Abdullahi: Assistant Community Director and experienced real estate broker, bringing a background in property management and community coordination.
