The highly anticipated Green Earth Cup League and Tournament is set to kick off on Aug. 2, 2025 at Valley Ridge Fields in SeaTac, bringing together communities through the universal language of soccer.
This vibrant event will feature 20 teams, each proudly representing a different country, including nations such as Korea, China, Vietnam, Mexico, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Laos, Nepal, Thailand, and others.
The tournament aims to foster cultural exchange and community spirit, showcasing the rich diversity of the region. Participants and spectators alike can look forward to a day filled with exciting matches, celebrating sportsmanship and global unity.
“We are thrilled to host the Green Earth Cup, an event that truly embodies the power of sport to unite people from various backgrounds,” said Sam Sim, Vice President of Greater Seattle Korean Association and Director of the event. “It’s more than just a soccer tournament; it’s a celebration of our diverse community and a testament to how we can come together and compete in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect.”
“The Green Earth Cup is a wonderful initiative that promotes understanding and camaraderie among different cultures through the love of soccer,” said Won Jun Kim, President of Greater Seattle Korean Association. “We are proud to see our community participate and contribute to this global celebration right here in Tukwila.”
“This tournament provides a fantastic platform for cultural exchange and healthy competition,” added Sam Sim, Vice President of Seattle Korean Association. “It’s inspiring to witness so many nations come together on the field, building bridges and sharing their passion for the game.”
“Soccer has a unique ability to bring people together, regardless of their background,” commented Hwan Choi, President of Washington Korean Soccer Association. “The Green Earth Cup exemplifies this spirit, and we are excited to be a part of an event that celebrates both athletic talent and cultural diversity.”
The Green Earth Cup League and Tournament promises to be a memorable occasion for families, soccer enthusiasts, and community members. SeaTac Councilman Peter Kwon and SeaTac Mayor Mohammed Egal are scheduled to give opening remarks.
In addition to thrilling matches, attendees can enjoy cultural events and shows during halftime, as well as a variety of ethnic food trucks. For families, a dedicated kids’ soccer camp and tournament will be held on one of the fields.
“We are doing this for community unity, respect, and peace, in preparation for the Seattle World Cup next year,” organizers said. “Attendees are encouraged to come and support their favorite teams and experience the cultural tapestry woven by the participating nations.”
The Green Earth Cup will continue on as both an International soccer league as well as annual tournament.
