With FIFA World Cup 2026 matches set to begin June 15 in the Seattle region, the City of SeaTac is rolling out a wide ranging plan of activation sites, community events and infrastructure improvements aimed at preparing residents, businesses and visitors for the global event.
City officials said SeaTac’s role as home to Sea-Tac International Airport and multiple Link light rail stations places it at the center of regional activity during the tournament. Preparations are already underway across the city, with programming scheduled to begin June 1 and continue through at least July 19.
Activation sites planned across SeaTac
The city will operate three daily activation sites offering free programming, food and entertainment.
- Métier Brewing Company at Angle Lake (the old Bullpen Site) located at 2825 South 200th Street and International Boulevard, will serve as a central gathering space in partnership with Métier Brewing Company and the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce. The site will host programming on Sundays and Thursdays and accommodate about 180 people.
- Stoup SeaTac City — Old Bank Building will operate as a weekend hub in partnership with Stoup Brewing and Por Vida NW. The location will feature food, beverages and entertainment, with all games shown on a large screen and capacity for about 250 people.
- SeaTac Welcoming Plaza — Station Activation will offer daily programming, including a mini soccer pitch and BMX activities in partnership with Growing Contigo and SeaTac BMX. The site is expected to accommodate about 190 people.
Focus on food and community gathering
In addition to activation sites, the city is promoting its International Dining District, branded as the World Table, as a destination for visitors. The district is being marketed through airport placements, transit advertising and social media to highlight SeaTac’s diverse culinary offerings.
Summer events anchored at Angle Lake
The city’s summer programming will include weekly activities at Angle Lake, beginning June 3 with the State of the City address and the opening of the SeaTac Farmers Market. The market will run weekly through Oct. 28 at Angle Lake Station Plaza, alongside concerts and events at The Roadhouse at Angle Lake.
Citywide improvements underway
Leading up to the tournament, SeaTac is focusing on beautification and infrastructure improvements. Efforts include a citywide cleanup event scheduled for May 30 at Angle Lake Park, expanded Adopt a Street and composting programs, and installation of new wayfinding signage and updated waste receptacles.
Residents are also encouraged to participate in cleanup efforts and take advantage of free large item disposal services available through Recology.
Public safety planning and coordination
SeaTac departments, including police, fire, parks and emergency management, are coordinating on crowd control, traffic management and public health measures. Planning includes protocols for road closures, emergency response and service impacts during peak event periods.
The city is also working with hotels, businesses and community organizations on human trafficking awareness and public education efforts, along with coordinating naloxone distribution and opioid response resources.
An Event Action Plan is being developed with regional partners, and an Emergency Coordination Center will be activated during the event period.
Community engagement continues
A Housing Forum scheduled for April 29 and a forthcoming FIFA and city events calendar will provide additional opportunities for community engagement. Officials said programming schedules for activation sites will be finalized and published on the city’s website.
Following the World Cup, the city plans to continue improvements, including further development of the Bullpen site as a long term community asset.
