SeaTac Police deputies helped save a wounded 17-year-old boy after responding Aug. 12 to reports of a shooting at North SeaTac Park, according to SeaTac Police and the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The 911 caller was the injured teen, who had a gunshot wound to his thigh and leg, police said.

Deputies quickly removed the teen from a car, used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and continued providing aid until paramedics arrived.

The teen was taken to a hospital and rushed into surgery.

Police said the boy later admitted he shot himself. Deputies recommended that he be charged with unlawful firearm possession.
