The City of SeaTac is seeking volunteers to help build a new playground at McMicken Heights Park, with preparation beginning Wednesday, Nov. 4, and the main community build scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7.

The city is partnering with Delta Air Lines, the Seattle Seahawks and KABOOM! on the project.

According to the city, 25 volunteers are needed for the main build alongside 100 Delta Air Lines volunteers, with additional help needed for preparation.

Volunteers can sign up for as many days as they are available through the project’s registration page here.

Preparation will begin at 9 a.m. each day. The city is seeking 15 volunteers Wednesday, Nov. 4, when work is expected to finish around 4 p.m., and another 15 volunteers Thursday, Nov. 5, with the completion time still to be determined.

Ten volunteers are requested to be on standby Friday, Nov. 6, in case additional preparation is needed. The listed arrival time is 9 a.m., with the finish time to be determined.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, team leaders will arrive at 6:30 a.m., followed by volunteer check in at 8 a.m. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

A ribbon cutting is planned for 2:30 p.m. Saturday and is expected to last about 20 minutes. The city said the ceremony’s start time could change depending on when the project is completed.

KABOOM! helps communities create safe places for children to play, according to the city. More information about the organization is available at kaboom.org.
