The City of Burien is proud to present the return of “It’s a Wonderful Burien,” an annual tradition that highlights the many gems in our community and encourages you to support local businesses and arts groups for seasonal experiences. Join us for a festive celebration of community, creativity, and local spirit that makes this city wonderfully Burien.
With the launch of Small Business Saturday, you can make plans to skip the “big boxes and corporate giants” by choosing to support small and local businesses in Burien. This weekend you’ll find a whole slate of fun and unique experiences to help you get to know more of the wonderful shops that help make Burien special.
Visit Downtown Burien for convenient in-person shopping, free parking, and a vibrant restaurant scene. Burien small businesses are mostly local and family-owned establishments filled with warm hospitality that will welcome you and are grateful for your business.


‘It’s a Wonderful Burien’ Highlights
Here are several highlights you will not want to miss:
- Winter Lights are Twinkling! Enjoy the 2025 Winter Light Display each night in Town Square Park, as you explore Downtown Burien for unique gifts, great food, and warm holiday cheer. The City of Burien, along with Discover Burien, and businesses have decked the streets and the storefronts with festive lights creating a cozy holiday atmosphere.
- Burien’s Winter Lights, nightly, Town Square Park, 480 SW 152nd Street. The City of Burien’s annual light display in Town Square Park with winter twinkly lights shine every night. Bright white lights now illuminate 152nd SW from Town Square Park, all the way to Olde Burien, adding a magical glow to your holiday stroll!
- The Gift of Shopping Small. It’s been a challenging year for Burien’s small businesses. Support them this season by shopping local—your dollars help to keep their doors open. Setting a special intention for this season to shop small and local to discover unique gifts and help keep jobs right here in our community.
- In Burien, it’s easy and fun with the addition of local events such as Mimosa Walk and Shop Local Burien, Saturday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m.– 4 p.m., Downtown Burien
- Burien’s very own Shop Local Burien event connects attendees with businesses offering a signature mimosa and the opportunity to discover shops you may not have explored yet. Tickets for this event can be found at https://www.discoverburien.org/events-calendar/2025/mimosa-walk, and sells out each year.

- Santa Claus is Coming to B-Town, Saturday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m.– 4 p.m. with a brief cookie break closure for Santa from 1-1:30 p.m. Tin Room Bar & Theater, 923 SW 152nd Street. Bring a donation of non-perishable food, hygiene items, cash or a check benefiting the Highline Area Food Bank, and receive a free professional Santa photo from Clover Laine Photography! Your donation will also get you a ticket to a raffle prize featuring local businesses, with all proceeds benefitting the food bank.
- The Burien Winter Market is open on all Thursdays (except Thanksgiving Day) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., in Town Square Park, 480 SW 152nd Street from Nov 6 – Dec 18. Enjoy shopping at the Winter Market for holiday gifts and locally made foods.
- Discover Burien hosts their annual Cookie Crawl, Saturday, Dec. 6, Noon. – 4 p.m. Downtown Burien. Begin the Cookie Crawl at the Discover Burien office (611 SW 152nd Street) to get your map and a reusable bag to collect all your sweet treats from participating local businesses.
