Despite recent federal changes to the Department of Education, the City of SeaTac announced this week that it is reaffirming its commitment to supporting local youth through a variety of before and after-school programs, seasonal camps, and free teen resources.
City officials emphasized that they will continue working alongside schools and families to ensure students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
Programs include before and after-school activities, spring and summer camps, and a free teen center, as well as scholarship opportunities in the city’s five most-spoken languages—English, Amharic, Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
“Education is the foundation of a thriving community,” city officials said in a statement. “Washington’s Constitution makes clear that providing education to all children is our state’s paramount duty, and we remain steadfast in that commitment.”
